When you hear the world “summer”,
what picture comes to you? Yes, summer is the lake, flowers, fresh-cut grass
and ice cream, but when I think of summer, the image that comes to mind is new
sandals and brightly coloured toe nails. Throw in a toe ring or two for good
measure, and maybe an ankle bracelet.
Sandals just don't look
right if the toes they are displaying are missing bright nail polish. The
combination of sandals and nail polish is perfect on women of all ages - from
little girls, to grown women to seniors. One of the details I loved the most in
the movie "Titanic" was the scene wherein the "old" Rose
was standing on the edge of the ship in her bare feet - with brightly painted
red toe nails! How perfect was that! Those brightly coloured toes spoke
volumes, without anyone saying a word. I love that scene because of her red toe
nails!
I know
it seems trivial, but summer has officially arrived when we drag our sandals
out of our closets (or buy a new pair) after a long winter of warm socks and
heavy boots. Our feet have been hidden
away for months and we are finally able to give them a little freedom. Memories of those long winter months (excruciatingly
long this year) are quickly forgotten as new footwear and polished toe nails
emerge. Whether it is in flip flops or high-heeled
sandals, summer is celebrated and acknowledged through what we wear on our
feet!
Sandals
and polished toe-nails . . . it’s a good thing!
